Today in my Social Studies methods class, we were talking about current events and my teacher talked about how a woman in her town was run over by a combine (pronounced comm-bine) after fighting with her husband.  Basically, her husband killed her... Everyone was pretty concerned, etc.  The only question in my head was... what the heck is a combine?!?  I asked my class and they all laughed at me...   I have never been laughed at for not knowing what farming equipment is...

Do you know what a combine is?!?!

They then continued to laugh at me for saying that I've never really been in the middle of a cornfield before...

Finally... we got into the topic of how cows give birth to their calves.  Do you know that sometimes they have to stick their WHOLE ARM into the mother?!  Or tie the baby to a 4x4 to pull the calf out if the mother is having complications giving birth!?  I was thoroughly disgusted...

The joys and adventures of going to school in Central/Southern Illinois... You definitely do learn something new everyday...
